Marlee Witt

Masters Graduate Assistant

Marlee Witt is a native of Spring Hill, TN. Currently, she is seeking an M.M. in Wind Band Conducting. She is a TA for the Wind Orchestra and co-conducts the New Horizons Band, Community Band, and Symphonic Winds. Prior to working in the division, Witt graduated Summa Cum Laude with Research Honors from UNLV earning a B.A. in Music History and Literature (2020).

Witt's Southern roots have been the catalyst for much of her musicological research. During her undergraduate, Witt was the recipient of several research grants to study Civil War Reenactment Bands as well as American Classical Music, researching under the supervision of Dr. Jonathan Rhodes Lee. 

As a trumpet player, Witt has studied with Dr. Barbara Hull, Dr. James Thompson, and Dr. Michael Ellzey. As a conductor, she has studied with Dr. Zane Douglass.

Witt is a member of the American Musicological Society and is a 2015 alumna of Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts.
